About Anchorage Crime Stoppers

The Anchorage Crime Stoppers Program began in 1981, partners with other Alaska Crime Stoppers Organizations, and is a member of the Crime Stoppers USA organization.  Crime Stoppers encourages the reporting of information or leads that can assist law enforcement with solving crimes. Its goal is to help in the fight against crime, but it is not part of the local police or sheriff's department. The program has been successful because it provides cash rewards to overcome apathy, also providing anonymity to overcome fear of retribution.

Our concept has developed into a combination of efforts by local media, businesses, civic and social clubs, law enforcement agencies, and the public. Donations of airtime, newspaper space, and reward monies have established Crime Stoppers as an effective tool to fight crime in the area.

Our Mission

Crime Stoppers is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community representatives. Crime Stoppers provides a method for local law enforcement to receive information on crimes. These efforts increase tips, which in turn increase arrests in our community. Our efforts are to contribute to a safer community, allowing people to willingly use a program that helps fight crime.
